TV On The Radio - Nine Types of Light
Nine Types of Light is as much an album as it is a movie by TV on the Radio. The movie is meant to be a visual re-imagining of the record, and includes a music video for every song on the album. The band personally asked their friends and the filmmakers they admired to help direct the music videos. Tunde Adebimpe, the director for the full Nine Types of Light movie, storybooked the music videos together with interviews from local New Yorkers on various topics, including dreams, love, fame and the future. Nine Types of Light, both the album and the movie were released on April 12, 2011. Runtime - 59:49
One of my favorite bands. They have a very cool, funky sound - definitely isn't the typical "alternative/indie" genre band. Album listing is below. "You" and "Will Do" are tops in my books, but all deserve a listen to really get a sense of how complex and how talented these guys are.
1 - "Second Song"
2 - "Keep Your Heart"
3 - "You"
4 - "No Future Shock"
5 - "Killer Crane"
6 - "Will Do"
7 - "New Cannonball Blues"
8 - "Repetition"
9 - "Forgotten"
10 - "Caffeinated Consciousness"

Lupe Fiasco - Moneyman
TO THE SEP17 OCCUPIERS "MONEYMAN"
POSTED BY LUPE FIASCO SEPTEMBER 14, 2011
Hey Moneyman the crowd is outside. The past, the future and the now is outside. The teachers and cooks and the drop-outs too. Word on the street is they looking for you…
Hey Moneyman they saying whats the score? And how much blood have you spilled on the butcher shop floor? Those numbers keep running but what they running into? The crowd is outside and they asking of you…
Hey Moneyman Moneyman the mayors' on the phone. He says he wants to know if all those people went home. Those momma's and poppa's and students and cooks. Those teachers and preachers, one second I'll look…
Hey Moneyman Moneyman the tents are still up, the songs are still singing and the coffee's in cups. The nights due to fall and the sun's going down but its still a whole mess of good folks hanging round...
They eyes are wide and their voices are loud. Its white and black and colorless proud. The signs are big and the smiles are bright. By heaven I reckon its gone be one hell of a night!
Hey Moneyman poor Moneyman you should slip out the back. Cuz the forces of greed are under attack. No bombs or bullets or rocks or guns. Just hashtag's and voices at the tops of their lungs!
And Moneyman Moneyman I wont need a ride. But if you need me…
You can find me outside.

The Roots - undun
undun is an existential re-telling of the short life of one Redford Stephens (1974-1999). Through the use of emotives and Redford's internal dialogues the album seeks to illustrate the intersection of free will and prescribed destiny as it plays out 'on the corner'. Utilizing a reverse narrative arc, the album begins as the listener finds Redford disoriented--postmortem--and attempting to make sense of his former life. As he moves through its pivotal moments he begins to deconstruct all that has led to his (and our own) coming undun.
Composed by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, undun expands on the indie influence of the band's How I Got Over (2010), the album's music is characterized by snare-driven beats, neo soul elements, keyboard soundscapes, strings, choral arrangements, and tight dynamics. Four videos were released to promote the album via OkayPlayer - here are two of them
Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - Rome
Rome is an album written by the American music producer Danger Mouse and the Italian composer Daniele Luppi. The album took five years to make and was inspired by the music from spaghetti westerns.
The album was recorded using vintage equipment and as well as featuring musicians who recorded spaghetti western soundtracks, it also features a reunited Cantori Moderni – the choir put together by Alessandro Alessandroni – which features on the soundtrack to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The album also features vocals by Jack White and Norah Jones.
